Feedback from students and collagues

My opinion is that feedback from students is most important when evaluating and developing myself as a teacher. Learning experience of students from their point of view reveals if I have succeed as a teacher or not.

In my pedagogical studies, most important observation for me has been understanding that when evaluating if teaching, education and learning has been successful it also contains teacher´s own understanding of what is successful teaching and successful learning. This teacher´s own understanding can be gathered via students´ experiences of learning and teacher´s own self-evaluation of this learning. When students evaluate that their learning has been good, teaching has then been successful. Any problems in students´ learning indicates that teacher has to develop his or oher way to teach the topic.

According to feedback which I have got from my students and also from my collagues, my own enthusiasm against topic which I teach can be noticed easily. Their experience is that my way of teaching is inspiring and that I can make “heavy topics” to be actually fun. Many say that they have been enjoying my lectures.
